…and are here to stay! Or at least we think so. This has been a really satisfying feature for us to roll out and one we’ve has in the pipes for a little while now.

The idea initially came from the dilemma of how to integrate the Drum & Bass Arenad Download store with our mobile features. The way people use their mobile phones has changed massively in the past couple of years. Phones have become a near universal device with which to do anything from email to blog and surf. This has particularly worked to blurr the boundaires between mobile phones and mp3 players.

Yet we think this needs to extend beyond merely replacing mp3 players with slightly beefed up phones. This was illustrated with the itunes feature on the iphone but is equally applicable across the board. We believe that people need to be discovering and downloading music on their phones. Which is precisely why we developed the idea of dual downloads. These enable users to get a full track on their telephone. This track is then stored in the user’s online account with the Drum & Bass Arena Download store and avaiable for download to theur PC when they next log in. The best of both worlds!

And to think that back in the day people were satisfied with novelty ringtones!

And lives to tell the tale! Tuesday was a big night in the office for the whole team as we launched the new webcast for Get Darker: Get DarkerTV. Get Darker is the web’s leading dubstep website, so making friends with the boys was always on the cards. Once we realised the direction they were heading, it made sense for us to work on the launch of their webcast. The webcast went down really well and it let us show off a new flash based format. This worked so well, we decided to roll it out to DNBTV too.

AEI has been successfully running DBTV since 2003 and we’ve always been really excited about the possibilities of the medium. The best part is the buzz that it creates in the community and the amount of interaction webcasts get. This means that not only are you creating something, but you are getting peoples’ reactions in real time. Its awesome to see MCs and even DJs taking in peoples comments and even reacting to them . That’s an online kind of intimacy that would’ve never been possible as little as 5 years ago.

After the initial couple of minutes of madness, we even got to kick back with a few beers. All good really.
